Well done everyone, playing against the team at the top of our division. Although Phil and June made light work of it winning their three rubbers easily, Dianne and Kelly fought hard taking two pairs to three ends, managing to pinch the wins. Will and Toni although they also took two pairs to three ends unfortunately lost 16-17 in the third end against the second pair, hard luck but a good try.

***Looking at the league table results this win should put us back into second position (as it looks as though Ernesford lost their last match).

"Icing on the cake" - an away win with plastics at a terrible venue. The only loss at home for AT7 this season.
Barry deputised for Kelly and he and Phil stormed through to become top pair. Simon and Malc fought hard and just missed a maximum, losing to their 1st pair. Andy and Vic also battled on, also losing to the 1st pair and then just edged out 15-17 in the third end of the final rubber.
Andy would like to thank all the guys who made up the team for the 15 matches and put in such a stirling effort throughout the season.

Both couples took the 2nd couple to 3, in what can only be described as Mediterranean conditions - as the heating couldnt be turned down! Quite a contrast to Barkers!

Excellent result against a mixed standard O.W. side (1 inexperienced pair, 2 experienced). All 3 pairs thrashed the inexperienced lads. 3 steady wins against the second pair. Hard fought wins against the best pair though - Malc and Simon "wore them out" for Andy and Vic, who beat them 17-14 in the third end. This demoralised them a bit for Phil and Kelly who were also taken to 3 ends [with a few arguments along the way!].

A convincing win for our first "proper" match, with all three pairs scoring a maximum (only 88 points scored in total by the opposition). Thanks to John for filling in with Kelly.
Also a very pleasant surprise to find that Ash Green have finally changed to feathers.

A tough day at the office for Mens 1 at home last night against Esporta 2's. A late withdrawal by Jerry due to a wrist injury opened the door for Phil to showcase his talents. Esporta provided a very strong 3rd pair who managed to take all three from us and unfortunately Martyn & Phil, although extremely close, didn't manage to get anything from their two. Mark & Carl and Paul & Rod took two each meaning a losing 4-5 score. Disappointment was clear to see and I think the team felt we could have sneaked it. Oh well, there's still the return leg at their place.

A good start to what we believe is going to be a highly competitive season for Men's 1 at Regent 2 on Friday 26th. Vic very kindly stepped in and covered for Rod and with Martyn made a good pair. Regent 2 only managed to provide 2 pairs so our night was made slightly easier. We all struggled against their 1st pair with all three pairs losing. However, everyone clearly wanted to win the match so their 2nd pair were dealt with varying degrees of ease. Most important for us was the win, it gives us a great springboard and hopefully some confidence. Roll on Monday 6th October and our visitors Esporta 2. Match to be played in the pressure-cooker of BBBC.
